Ashley Patten is a renowned professional in the legal and title industries. The New Orleans native graduated from Loyola Law School in 1998 and subsequently sat for both the Louisiana and Texas Bar examinations in 1999.
Patten got his start in the title business shortly after law school, when he joined forces with his law school roommate who had recently started a fee attorney office with American Title Company. He quickly assimilated the ranks to partner and was ultimately given the opportunity to open a new branch in Houston. Never afraid of a challenge, Patten was able to secure office space, hire staff, and begin operations within 30 days of his arrival. The success of the Houston office allowed Patten and his partners to continue opening additional offices throughout the state. In 2007, the partnership transitioned into two separate companies, with Patten maintaining sole ownership of the Houston and Austin branches.
After the separation of the branches, Patten aligned with Texas American Title, with a majority focus on refinancing and Texas Home Equity Business. When the recession of 2008 hit, Patten decided to capitalize on the opportunity to branch into other market segments. He shifted the main focus of the company from refinancing to a more well-rounded approach, attracting high-end real estate agents, investor driven acquisitions, institutional buyers, builders, and small developers. Shifting the focus of the company helped navigate the great recession and prompt unprecedented, double-digit growth from 2011-2016. A constant innovator, Patten decided to make another bold change. In 2016, he began the 3-year transition from fee office to title company. On April 1, 2019, Patten Title Company became official.
Over the course of his career, Patten has developed a unique perspective on the legal, title and real estate industries. Navigating a company through an economic recession and simultaneously pioneering exponential growth provides him with an ever-growing knowledge that he shares with others daily. Being the sole attorney at Patten Title, he provides customers and staff with insightful direction. This provides for a solutions-oriented operation, especially when working to resolve difficult transactions. Over his career, he has developed a reputation for his honesty, unwavering integrity, and shrewd title operations with both underwriters and agents.
Outside of work, Patten enjoys spending time with his wife, Nicki, who is also a title attorney and examiner. They have just welcomed their first son, James, and love spending time with him and their beloved French Bulldog, Gus.
